I've only recently expanded into the Muay Thai side of the house, but I really enjoy the energy & attitude of all the men & women who I allow to punch me in the face & kick me in my legs & body hahaha But for real, it's important to know how you respond to being punched in the face. It's also nice to have some Jiu Jitsu to fall back on if you really don't like the way getting punched in the face feels! At the end of the day they are both great arts to be trained in & the instruction is top-notch! Come on in, tell 'em Ryan sent ya!

Bushido MMA is by far the best in Hampton Roads. The instructors are awesome and the classes are totally comprehensive. The whole team is like a family. I would recommend Bushido MMA to everyone interested in the art of self defense. I look forward to every class and sparring match.

Highly recommend meticulous instructors who understand all aspects of all combat situations. Mauy Thai & Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are presented and taught in real world situations which include real contact sparring. The instructors teach the kid's basic fundamentals in a way that is fun & encouraging. My son has been training here for 2 Years now and when we started he was very shy and timid. Now he has turned into a more confident young man. I would highly recommend Mauy Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for all children for fitness, confidence, self defense and discipline. We have formed some amazing friendships there with other parents and students. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is taught by Alan Merullo. If your into striking, there is a great Mauy Thai program taught by Greg Smith. All of there instructors and staff are very helpful and break down the concepts for all learners. There is definitely something for everyone whether you're looking for self defense, fitness and conditioning, or to win fights and gold medals.

I started training jiu jitsu at Bushido about a year and a half ago. I needed a hobby to keep me busy, and I certainly found that, but I also found a second home. The instruction here is awesome, the classes are fun, and the people are tough, but work extremely well with beginners which I really appreciated when I first started. With all of my relatives being on the other side of the country, I'm very lucky to have found people here who I consider family.

Since joining Bushido MMA I have loss 50lb. and gaining strength and cardio I never knew I could have. It's very rare to see an MMA gym have so many great instructors from Muay-Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, and Judo. There is even a CrossFit program ran out of the gym, for people just interested getting into shape. The culture and atmosphere of the gym is one of the great things too. We put together social events outside of the gym as well.

My son and I love this place, so many good things about Bushido! I wanted my 10 year old son to learn two of the best martial arts for self-defense, Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Awesome, both are taught at Bushido by experienced instructors and they also teach wrestling. The instructors make the classes so fun that he didn't even realize he was learning self-defense skills all while getting a really good workout.
After training in other striking martial arts, I realized my ground/grappling game needed a lot of help; so I too started training at Bushido taking Brazilian Jiu Jitsu several times a week. We both have been training for 5 months and have forged many new friendships. Many people think these schools are full of arrogant tough guys. Well, they are full of tough guys, along with tough women, tough boys, and tough girls; however, none of them are arrogant. They are just everyday people trying to better themselves by exercising and learning effective self-defense.

We brought five kids from WV for the Bushido kids challenge tournament. The staff were top notch, welcoming and helpful. The facility is spacious, clean and the perfect environment for competitors! As typical, where the six blades are found, So is professionalism and awesome people creating a family atmosphere. We will be back soon!
